There are many ways to give a tribute gift to UMD. Below are variety options you can use to honor a loved one.

Give a gift to UMD in honor or in memory of someone.

Go to our giving website, choose a UMD cause to give to, and fill out the "Make this gift in honor or memory of someone" section under the Special Options section. We'll notify the family of your gift, if you choose.

Fundraise for a cause at UMD in honor or in memory of someone.

Set up a fundraising page on the University's crowdfunding website, URaiseMN, to raise funds for a U cause in honor of a loved one. This option allows space to share photos, video, and a story about your loved one. Get started at URaiseMN.

Memorials will be directed to the [insert UMD cause, for example "The John Anderson scholarship fund"] at the University of Minnesota Foundation. [Insert giving link.]

Is the cause an existing UMD fund or a new fund, yet to be determined?

Existing fund:

To be determined:

Establish a new endowed fund in honor/memory of someone.

Contact UMD at 218-726-7989 and you will be connected to someone who can help with fund establishment.

Create a living memorial.

Planting a memorial tree is a meaningful way to honor someone or something, commemorate an event, or mark a milestone.  Every tree planted at UMD will become a living legacy, a gift that will live on in a unique and unending way. The donation includes installation and a permanent engraved plaque. You can personalize the plaque with a maximum of 5 lines and 35 characters per line.
